We specialize in antique maps of all parts of the world, produced by renowned cartographers, such as Ortelius, Mercator, Blaeu, Janssonius, Hondius, Visscher, de Wit, etc.
Last but not least, vintage posters, modern and old master prints and Medieval manuscripts are offered in our monthly Buy-or-Bid catalog!
A certificate of authenticity will be produced for every sold item and we lifetime guarantee the items we sell.

History
In 1978, Pierre Joppen founded Paulus Swaen Old Maps and Pierre is
still the company owner. The Gallery was located until 1997 in Geldrop in the Southern part of The Netherlands. Paulus Swaen Inc is since 1996 been incorporated in Florida USA where the company started to produce online auctions.
In 2022, the Buy-or-Bid formula was introduced.
Buy-or-Bid
In this monthly sale, about 1200 items are listed for seven days, and you can purchase an item at the buy price at any time. The sale for this item has closed.
If you do not wish to pay the Buy price, you may also bid/offer lower on any item.
Items that do not sell at the Buy price will be made available at the highest accepted bid after the close of the sale.

Starting in 2024, we are expanding our services with more collectible subjects. Therefore, we changed the site's name to Rare Paper Sales.
The Buy-or-Bid sales are now co-organized by Sammy Berk from New World Cartographic in Chicago.
Sammy Berk - is CEO & founder of New World Cartographic, specializing in antique maps and prints with a gallery space located in The Bridgeport Art Center in the Pilsen neighborhood of Chicago, Illinois.
Sammy has been dealing in historic collectibles since 2009 and has been a business owner since 2019. At one time, he organized eight antique map fairs and two rare coin shows. He also spent a few years working as an auctioneer.
