Who we are!
We are always interested in connecting with people who have a passion for maps and history, especially those that are looking to build or sell a collection. Sammy Berk, together with Pierre Joppen and the crest of the team, are here to assist you with questions about our items or if you are interested in consigning maps, prints, posters, cons or medieval manuscripts in one of our future Buy-or-Bid sales.

Sammy Berk - is CEO & founder of New World Cartographic, specializing in antique maps and prints with a gallery space located in The Bridgeport Art Center in the Pilsen neighborhood of Chicago, Illinois.

Sammy has been dealing in historic collectibles since 2009 and has been a business owner since 2019. At one time, he organized eight antique map fairs and two rare coin shows. He also spent a few years working as an auctioneer.

Pierre Joppen - is the CEO & founder of Paulus Swaen Old Maps, and since its foundation in 1978, Pierre has specialized in maps, atlases, and globes from the 16th to the 18th century. He learned early Dutch mapmakers and coloring techniques from 18th-century colorists such as Dirk Jansz. van Santen is world-renowned. Originally trained as a graphic designer, he has a keen eye for the aesthetic aspect of engraving and map-making.
