The Siege of Fort Zeelandia of 1661-1662 ended the Dutch East India Company's rule over Taiwan and began the Kingdom of Tungning's rule over the island. From Olearius' "Orientalische Reise-Beschreibung."
Fort Zeelandia was a fortress built over ten years from 1624 to 1634 by the Dutch East India Company (VOC), in the town of Anping (now wholly subsumed as Anping District of Tainan) on the island of Formosa in present-day Taiwan, during their 38-year rule over the western part of that island.
The current site has been renamed several times to Orange City, Anping City, and Taiwan City and the current name of the site in Chinese is Anping Fort.
