Description
Very large wall map extending from the Bay of Bengal in the South East as far as Tibet to the North and Gohud to the West.
Engraved from the original drawing in the possession of the East India Company.
Drawn by James Rennell (1742?1830) who was an English cartographer, geographer, and oceanographer. He was surveyor general (1764?77) of Bengal and published "A Bengal Atlas" in 1779.
He made the first approximately correct map of India in 1783.
Cartouche shows a bearded sea god resting his arm on a bull's head, and an alligator and leopard are beside him. At right, an Indian woman holds a bowl over a kneeling man, as two other men look on.

An inexhaustive census has located three states of the map:
Cities in the Kathmandu Valley shown, but not named
"Part of Thibet" is introduced in large lettering in the upper left of the map.
Cities in the Kathmandu Valley named. Berar was also named.

Maps are shipped in solid tubes or flat between solid cardboard. Fully insured, signature required, and with online tracking. Shortly after shipment, you will get the tracking number by email.The standard is that we ship items by UPS or DHL for European destinations, and a flat shipping fee is added to each shipment. It is a one-time fee even if you buy multiple items. This fee covers shipping and insurance (up to the invoice amount) to:
- North America, Canada, Europe $ 30
- Asia $ 40
- For South America, Mauritius, Africa and Australia a shipping fee of $ 50 will be charged.
We charge only a one-time shipping fee if you have won 2 or more items.
