Description
Scarce print with a German text sheet. The Dutch had already captured many Spaniards and, in October 1615 when their fleet reached Acapulco, they exchanged them for provisions. Near the town (H), there was a church (G) and a castle (F), well equipped with soldiers.
Before anchoring in the harbour, the Dutch caught a wonderful fish (I). After going ashore, they began to negotiate with the Spanish (B) and both sides carried white flags. The Dutch agreed to release the prisoners in exchange for provisions, which were brought on donkeys (D), accompanied by Spanish on horsemen (K). They also brought oxen and sheep (E) for the Dutch. Johann Theodor de Bry (1561-1623) was born in Liège in 1561, the eldest son of the engraver and publisher Theodor de Bry. It was from his father that Johann learned his craft, producing both engravings and etchings.
In 1588, the Lutheran De Bry family settled in Frankfurt am Main, a safe haven for Lutherans at this time of religious discord. Together with his father and brother (Johann Israël de Bry), Johann published two popular emblem books.
He also produced engravings from celebrated contemporary painters. De Bry died in Frankfurt in 1623.

Maps are shipped in solid tubes or flat between solid cardboard. Fully insured, signature required, and with online tracking. Shortly after shipment, you will get the tracking number by email.The standard is that we ship items by UPS or DHL for European destinations, and a flat shipping fee is added to each shipment. It is a one-time fee even if you buy multiple items. This fee covers shipping and insurance (up to the invoice amount) to:

- Asia $ 40
- For South America, Mauritius, Africa and Australia a shipping fee of $ 50 will be charged.
