Description
Rare separately issued map of parts of Uruguay, with parts of Brazil, Argentina and Paraguay. This map focuses on the extensive river system in southeastern South America, beginning at the Rio de la Plata and extending through the Uruguay and Parana Rivers. Buenos Ayres to the lower left. There is meticulous detail of all the various rivers, tributaries, and lakes in the region, as well as numerous depth soundings at the mouth of the Rio de la Plata.
The map notes three areas : "La linea amarilla denota la linea divisoria accordada entre Espana e Portugal en 1777".
The Yellow Line notes the division based on the treaty between Spain and Portugal in 1777) "La encarnada la acutal" (shown in red--the actual boundary) and "El terreno dado de verde Jndicizo y neutral" (areas shown in green are undecided neutral territories).
The map is very rare, with recorded copies in the British Library (OCLC) and in a dealer catalog (Barry Ruderman).
Another edition in the collection of the State of Corrientes in Paraguay, which was issued on April 10, 1826.
