Description
A set of 3 printed charts of the China Sea added in manuscripts the tracks of the French frigate "Cleopatre" under command of Adm. Cecille in the years 1846 - 1847.
Showing towns, banks, isles and soundings indicated in meters.
Engraved by Chassant. Prepared by M. Keller, Hydrographer and engineer.
With a table allowing the conversion from meters to brasses (a French measure of depth of water corresponding to the fathom) and feet, under the bottom border frame.
During the Opium War the French government sent out in 1846-1847 under command of Admiral Cecille a mission to Chine. Cecille who was selected to lead the mission as he assisted with the signature of the "traite de Nankin" (29 august 1842). His vessel "Cleopatre", visited Macao, Philippines, Korea, Cochin chine and the Ryuku Islands. The manuscript tracks of this mission are mutinously drawn in giving its positions at the end of each day. With a manuscript key in upper left corner of chart "Carte de la Mer de Chine'' : Legende des Campagne d'apres le trait de la Route.

Shipping
Maps are shipped in solid tubes or flat between solid cardboard. Fully insured, signature required, and with online tracking. Shortly after shipment, you will get the tracking number by email.The standard is that we ship items by UPS or DHL for European destinations, and a flat shipping fee is added to each shipment. It is a one-time fee even if you buy multiple items. This fee covers shipping and insurance (up to the invoice amount) to:
- North America, Canada, Europe $ 30
- Asia $ 40
- For South America, Mauritius, Africa and Australia a shipping fee of $ 50 will be charged.
We charge only a one-time shipping fee if you have won 2 or more items.
