Description
A chart indicating distances in the heavens, using the diameter of the earth as the unit of measuring. This chart is richly adorned with elaborate cartouches and baroque elements such as putti in clouds. Engraved by J.van Loon.
Peter Schenk and Gerard Valk reissued the copper-plates of the original Cellarius atlas in 1708. These plates are identified by the addition of the new publisher's imprint. These celestial charts are among the most beautiful engraved and hand-colored works of their era, and are highly sought after by collectors. From the Harmonica Microcosmica.
Andreas Cellarius was a Dutch-German cartographer, best known for his Harmonia Macrocosmica, a major star atlas published in 1660 by the Amsterdam publisher Johannes Janssonius as a cosmographical supplement to his Atlas Novus. Cellarius had already started working on this atlas before 1647 and intended it to be a historical introduction for a two-volume treatise on cosmography but the second part was never published.

Shipping
Maps are shipped in solid tubes or flat between solid cardboard. Fully insured, signature required, and with online tracking. Shortly after shipment, you will get the tracking number by email.The standard is that we ship items by UPS or DHL for European destinations, and a flat shipping fee is added to each shipment. It is a one-time fee even if you buy multiple items. This fee covers shipping and insurance (up to the invoice amount) to:
- North America, Canada, Europe $ 30
- Asia $ 40
- For South America, Mauritius, Africa and Australia a shipping fee of $ 50 will be charged.
We charge only a one-time shipping fee if you have won 2 or more items.
