Description
A large and detailed steel engraved map sheet (1 of 2 only) of Southern India. Map extent is from Nagpur in the north to Ceylon (Sri Lanka) in the south. Regions are in differing outline colors, there are latitude and longitude lines, five mileage scales, a reference table, and a 'note'.
A lot of good map detail, with excellent physical topography, lots of place names, and a large inset of "South-Eastern Provinces of India (Hindu-Chinese Countries or Further India). Inset shows Burma, Siam, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, and northern Sumatra.
Alexander Keith Johnston (1804-1871), was a geographer to Queen Victoria, he was a Fellow of the Royal Society of Edinburgh and a Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society.
Keith Johnston was particularly interested in physical geography, and after completing university he studied with international geographers, including Alexander von Humboldt. Publication of his first atlas, the "National Atlas of General Geography" in 1841 quickly resulted in his 1843 appointment as 'Geographer Royal for Scotland'. He adopted the title of "Geographer at Edinburgh in Ordinary to the Queen".

Shipping
Maps are shipped in solid tubes or flat between solid cardboard. Fully insured, signature required, and with online tracking. Shortly after shipment, you will get the tracking number by email.The standard is that we ship items by UPS or DHL for European destinations, and a flat shipping fee is added to each shipment. It is a one-time fee even if you buy multiple items. This fee covers shipping and insurance (up to the invoice amount) to:
- North America, Canada, Europe $ 30
- Asia $ 40
- For South America, Mauritius, Africa and Australia a shipping fee of $ 50 will be charged.
We charge only a one-time shipping fee if you have won 2 or more items.
