Description
Leaf on vellum from a French Book of Hours, written around 1470 in or near Rouen. The decoration on the recto is very elaborate with flowers and leaves in bright colors and much liquid gold. On the verso is one border with smaller leaves and flowers. There are many initials in bright colors.
The text is from psalm 12 and to help you read the medieval text, here is the transcription/translation, beginning on the recto, the 7th line from the top :Psalmus 12 (13) Usquequo Domine oblivisceris me in finem usquequo avertis faciem tuam a me. How long, O Lord, wilt thou forget me unto the end? how long dost thou turn away thy lace from me?
