Description
A superb large scale map of the county of Wiltshire published by the Greenwood brothers. The brothers were surveyors and publishers and undertook the survey of most of the counties for their maps, which were executed by four well known engravers, of which J & C Walker the most prolific and prominent. From the Atlas of the Counties of England. Curiously, despite the title there are grouped maps of Wales within the atlas. The maps proved popular because they are extremely decorative andv almost always have a finely engraved, well known building of the county - in this case, the medieval Salisbury Cathedral.
As well as beautiful calligraphic script for the title, the map has a large decorative compass rose, a large and clear explanation table and an extensive reference table of the county 'hundreds' (1-29).
The county map itself is well laid out, easy to read (helped by its size) and most competently engraved. Shown in great detail are (among other things): Market Towns, Castles, Cross Roads, Turnpike Roads, Woods, Canals, Villages, Heaths and Commons, Parks etc, etc. A striking and beautiful county map, and a real must for anyone living in the county.

Maps are shipped in solid tubes or flat between solid cardboard. Fully insured, signature required, and with online tracking. Shortly after shipment, you will get the tracking number by email.The standard is that we ship items by UPS or DHL for European destinations, and a flat shipping fee is added to each shipment. It is a one-time fee even if you buy multiple items. This fee covers shipping and insurance (up to the invoice amount) to:
- North America, Canada, Europe $ 30
- Asia $ 40
- For South America, Mauritius, Africa and Australia a shipping fee of $ 50 will be charged.
We charge only a one-time shipping fee if you have won 2 or more items.
