Description
A huge, striking, two panel wall map of Germany, Austria, Bohemia (Czech Republic), Poland, Lithuania, Prussia, Switzerland, Holland (the Netherlands), Belgium and Denmark by Louis Delarochette.
This is the 1794 updated edition of a map originally published in 1759. Published by Laurie and Whittle and Engraved by Thomas Kitchen and included in Kitchin's “General Atlas”.
Each of the two panels was made up of two horizontal sheets that were issued joined. The total map is about 4’ x 3 ¼’.
Features include an elaborate allegorical title cartouche in the upper left quadrant with the German eagle overlooking two warrior women, and an assortment of military items. A Medusa with a handful of snakes looks on. Also a Rococo style scale cartouche.
Louis Stanislaw d'Arcy Delarochette (1731 - 1802) was a British cartographer active in London, England in the late 18th century. Dealrochette produced numerous maps in conjunction with various other contemporary British cartographers including Faden, Jefferys, Laurie and Whittle, Arrowsmith, and Bowles.
Delarochette is best known for his monumental eight sheet map of South America, which was used to settle numerous border disputes throughout the continent.

Shipping
Maps are shipped in solid tubes or flat between solid cardboard. Fully insured, signature required, and with online tracking. Shortly after shipment, you will get the tracking number by email.The standard is that we ship items by UPS or DHL for European destinations, and a flat shipping fee is added to each shipment. It is a one-time fee even if you buy multiple items. This fee covers shipping and insurance (up to the invoice amount) to:
- North America, Canada, Europe $ 30
- Asia $ 40
- For South America, Mauritius, Africa and Australia a shipping fee of $ 50 will be charged.
We charge only a one-time shipping fee if you have won 2 or more items.
