Description
Visscher's map of the Americas, this decorative map greatly influenced the cartography of the Americas both geographically and artistically.
Although it did not provide much in the way of cartographic advances, this map popularized features derived from Blaeu's 1648 world map and the Briggs 1625 map of THE ISLAND OF CALIFORNIA.
An innovative detail is the broader north coast to California.
The map is arrayed with wildlife throughout the land, a battle scene in South America, and the seas are filled with sailing ships. The bottom cartouche includes a scene of gold panning.
The top cartouche bears a dedication to Cornelis Witsen, and depicts three angels carrying an Indian to heaven while banishing the devil.

Maps are shipped in solid tubes or flat between solid cardboard. Fully insured, signature required, and with online tracking. Shortly after shipment, you will get the tracking number by email.The standard is that we ship items by UPS or DHL for European destinations, and a flat shipping fee is added to each shipment. It is a one-time fee even if you buy multiple items. This fee covers shipping and insurance (up to the invoice amount) to:
- North America, Canada, Europe $ 30
- Asia $ 40
- For South America, Mauritius, Africa and Australia a shipping fee of $ 50 will be charged.
We charge only a one-time shipping fee if you have won 2 or more items.
