Description
Important map of Fujian Province, showing the east coast of China and the west coast of Taiwan.It shows that for the Manchu Qing, only the western half of Formosa was considered part of the Province of Fujian. It is not that the map maker was unaware of the shape of the eastern part of the island: rather it shows that that part was considered the area of the wild "uncooked" savages.
The longitude makes Beijing the Prime Meridian.

Jean Baptiste Bourguignon d' Anville (1697-1782) was a French cartographer and compiled over 200 maps. This map is from his most important work Nouvel Atlas de la Chine, published in The Hague 1737.
The principal cartographic authority on China during the 18th century. D'Anville used maps prepared by Jesuit missionaries and commissioned by Emporer-Kanyx, who in 1708-1716 ordered a surveying of the country. This map is the first accurate cartographic depiction of this area available in the western world.

Maps are shipped in solid tubes or flat between solid cardboard. Fully insured, signature required, and with online tracking. Shortly after shipment, you will get the tracking number by email.The standard is that we ship items by UPS or DHL for European destinations, and a flat shipping fee is added to each shipment. It is a one-time fee even if you buy multiple items. This fee covers shipping and insurance (up to the invoice amount) to:
- North America, Canada, Europe $ 30
- Asia $ 40
- For South America, Mauritius, Africa and Australia a shipping fee of $ 50 will be charged.
We charge only a one-time shipping fee if you have won 2 or more items.
