Description
This spectacular title page from a bible showing an angel presenting a women with a bible, together with two cherubs, one holding the Ten Commandments and the other with his foot on a skull.
From : "BIBLE. La Sainte Bible, qui contient le Vieux et le Nouveau Testament." , this piece combines the works from three masters of the Dutch 17th century publishing activities.
Published by the master printing house Elsevier, as stated in the lower part : Louys and Daniel Elsevier of Amsterdam.
After a model by Nicolaes Pietersz. Berchem (1 October 1620 - 18 February 1683) who was a highly esteemed and prolific Dutch painter of pastoral landscapes, and designer of title pages, cartouches in maps for N.Visscher, Frederick de Wit. Born in Haarlem, he received instruction from his father Pieter Claesz, and from the painters Jan van Goyen.
Engraved by Theodoor Matham (c.1605-1676), who was the son of Jacob Matham. The Matham family where perhaps the most profound engravers in the second half of the 17th century.
On top the title page is lavishly colored and richly heightened with gold.

Shipping
Maps are shipped in solid tubes or flat between solid cardboard. Fully insured, signature required, and with online tracking. Shortly after shipment, you will get the tracking number by email.The standard is that we ship items by UPS or DHL for European destinations, and a flat shipping fee is added to each shipment. It is a one-time fee even if you buy multiple items. This fee covers shipping and insurance (up to the invoice amount) to:
- North America, Canada, Europe $ 30
- Asia $ 40
- For South America, Mauritius, Africa and Australia a shipping fee of $ 50 will be charged.
We charge only a one-time shipping fee if you have won 2 or more items.
