Description
Very decorative title page from Atlas Novus printed by Tobias Conrad Lotter. Large, elaborately engraved sheet with numerous allegorical figures.
The middle of the title page represents the globe with Europe, Asia, Australia, and Africa. Besides the globe personifications of the continents, with the crowned figure of Europe with scepter pointing to a map. The figure Asia with turban and America Indian with arrow and headdress of feathers, lower right two dark-skinned figures of Africa with feather headdress. Each figure is pointing to a continent map. In the background more allegorical figures as Mars, Minerva, Mercury, and Neptune, globes, instruments, etc.
Design by Jacob Christoph Weyerman and engraved by Martin Gottfried Grophius.
Tobias Conrad Lotter (1717-1777) was a publisher of maps in Augsburg, Germany. He inherited the family mapmaking business from his father-in-law, Matthias Seutter. Lotter published atlases and numerous sheet maps.

Shipping
Maps are shipped in solid tubes or flat between solid cardboard. Fully insured, signature required, and with online tracking. Shortly after shipment, you will get the tracking number by email.The standard is that we ship items by UPS or DHL for European destinations, and a flat shipping fee is added to each shipment. It is a one-time fee even if you buy multiple items. This fee covers shipping and insurance (up to the invoice amount) to:
- North America, Canada, Europe $ 30
- Asia $ 40
- For South America, Mauritius, Africa and Australia a shipping fee of $ 50 will be charged.
We charge only a one-time shipping fee if you have won 2 or more items.
Hold Shipment Service
