Description
An extremely scarce world map by Joseph Moxon's son James, and published featuring a curious separation of California from the rest of North America. The map clearly provides for a northwest passage. No great lakes are shown. Only rivers shown, not much else.
The northwest coast is identified as 'Nova Dania'. Remnants of the land extension between California and Asia remain. 'Hollandia Nova' is shown, although the coastline is largely incomplete.
A very fascinating and early world map, published by Halma and dated 1709. A hand-colored world map, with the Garden of Eden and Paradise at its centre. Various counties have been numbered (1-50), with corresponding legend. Title bottom right with above it the Ark of Noah.
