Description
This is a mezzotint print by Claude Lorrain. His paintings were etched masterfully by another great artist: Richard Earlom, who had specialized in the most royal of print arts: the mezzotint.
The mezzotint is from the book "Liber Veritatis," or "The Book of Truth," consisting of over 200 etchings of superb quality in sepia (brown ink) which gives them a touch of color without being colorful.
John Boydell was the printer and publisher. The plate is dated 1774.
