Description
The Presentation in the Temple.
Mary presents her baby to the priest and Joseph holds a basket with two sacrificial doves as an offering for poor people. Unfortunately there was some rubbing in the course of the centuries : the pigeons are hardly visible. The clothes are richly done, especially that of the priest. The inside of the Temple, the surrounding columns, the initial D and the tympanon are well executed.
The text is in a neat batarde hand with many initials in red, blue and gold.
The whole reminds me of the Hours of Charles V, made in Brussels for the Emperor, circa 1540.
