Description
An attractive chart of the Alaskan coast from Mount St. Elie, south to Bay de Clonard.
This chart was engraved by Bouclet for La Pérouse's 'Voyage autour du Monde'.
Jean Francois Galaup De La Perouse made his famous voyage into the North Pacific during the years 1785-1788, ultimately shipwrecked and killed off the New Hebrides island group.
La Pérouse was the first non-Spanish visitor to California since Drake’s visit in 1579, and the first to come to California after the founding of the Spanish missions and presidios.
